At Aesthera Med Spa, we have a team of experts who serve patients in Pismo Beach, and servicing areas in San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria, CA. Our top treatments are BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®  which are neuromodulators – injectables that smooth frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet. The active ingredient in these products is a synthesized version of botulinum toxin type A, which temporarily halts the nerve signals that trigger the facial muscles involved in creating lines, wrinkles, and creases. These products are by far the most popular neuromodulators in the San Luis Obispo area, due to their effective results.

Which injectable is right for me?

BOTOX® is the most recognized neuromodulator. It has been used by millions of people worldwide for over a decade, and Botox injections in Pismo Beach can help you to feel and look younger and well-rested. Dysport® has the advantage of spreading through the tissues more thoroughly and can be particularly beneficial for smoothing forehead creases. Xeomin® is the purest of the three neuromodulators and is free of the added proteins found in BOTOX® and Dysport®. Some people develop antibodies to the added proteins in BOTOX® and Dysport® and experience better results with Xeomin®.

What’s right for you? We invite you to meet with our team of skin rejuvenation and anti-aging experts at Aesthera and discover our state-of-the-art, concierge clinic, where every treatment is under the care of our team of talented medical professionals.

Who is a candidate for Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin®?

Candidates for Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin® are men or women who would like to either reduce the signs of age or who would like to ward off the signs of age before they appear in the first place. Botox can be used as a preventative treatment or as a way to walk back the signs of age that have already set in.

Ideal candidates for Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin® injections should meet the following qualifications:

  • Are 18 years old or older
  • Are generally in good health
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Do not have a history of neuromuscular diseases
  • Want to smooth and reduce facial wrinkles and lines to achieve a more youthful appearance
  • Would like to prevent the signs of age before they appear

What signs of aging can Dysport treat?

We perform Dysport injections in the San Luis Obispo area to treat the upper part of the face and some areas of the neck. Some areas of the face respond better to Dysport injections than others. Botox treatment areas include the following:

  • Lines and wrinkles on the forehead
  • The “11s” or frown lines between the brows
  • Crow's feet around the eyes
  • Marionette lines
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Smoker's lines around the mouth
  • Neck bands
  • Sagging brows
  • Masseter/jaw muscles
  • Underarms

Your treatment experience

Your injections may only require about fifteen minutes to perform. You will need a few days for the smoothing effect to appear with BOTOX®, Xeomin®, or Dysport®. The product is injected in tiny quantities in several spots on your forehead, between the brows, or around your eyes to smooth away deep crow’s feet. In the following week, you will see the lines and creases smoothing, with a subtle lifting effect on your brow.

The injections are not exceptionally painful, but if you are sensitive, we can apply a topical numbing cream before your injections. Your skin may be slightly reddened or bruised at the injection sites. The care and advanced techniques we use when performing injections are less likely to cause significant redness or bruising, although everyone is different. You may feel some tingling for a few hours. Do not touch, rub, or massage the injection sites.

After your Botox procedure

One of the reasons our Botox treatments in the San Luis Obispo area are so popular is the fact that the recovery period is quite minimal. After the short treatment, patients can get right back to most of their usual routines and activities. Do wait for about a day before you drink alcohol, exercise heavily, spend excessive time in the sun, or massage the injection area.

However, you may notice small red bumps just after your injections. These usually disappear in less than an hour. Other minor side effects may include flu-like symptoms, neck pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site.

How long does Botox last?

While Botox treatments take only about 20 minutes or less, the results are apparent very quickly. The first time you get a treatment, it may take 2-7 days for the results to appear. Those who have had treatments before will see results in a day. After your Botox or other neuromodulator treatment, your skin will be smoother and far freer from wrinkles. Your face will appear younger, but you’ll also look naturally relaxed, never frozen or done. These results typically last for 3-4 months.

What other areas besides wrinkles can Botox treat?

Botox can be used to treat hyperhydrosis of the hands or armpits. You can use Botox above the lip area to create a lip flip. For those that have bruxism Botox can be injected in the jaw area to help reduce teeth grinding.

Are Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin injections painful?

Most patients feel very little discomfort because the needle used during injections is very thin and fine. However, there may be some mild discomfort. To ensure the treatment is as comfortable as possible, a numbing agent can be applied beforehand. After your treatment, you may experience some swelling or bruising at the injection site.
